This tour with Sierra Club trip leader David Book will include
the Fly Geyser, the Great Boiling Spring in Gerlach, Trego Hot Spring, "Frog Farm," and Black Rock Hot Spring if possible, at David's discretion.

Guru Road Restoration: Join Metric and Friends for the annual restoration effort. This year will involve more detail work on art installations:
* Elvis' cape needs to be re-done
* an arrow needs to be built for behind the Big Medicine Tipi
* The gate needs to be rebuilt
* the TV Station needs thatching
* the Trickle Down Art SHow needs excavation
* the road will need some pothole maintenance

Sierra Front-Northwestern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council field trip
The RAC will meet at Bruno's Country Club, 445 Main Street, Gerlach, Nevada, on Tuesday, July 15, with a field trip to the Black Rock-High Rock National Conservation Area. All meetings are open to the public. Meeting times are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include a general public comment period, where the public may submit oral or written comments to the RAC. Each public comment period will begin at approximately 3 p.m. unless otherwise listed in each specific, final meeting agenda.

The California Association of Four-Wheel Drive Clubs will host a Lassen-Applegate Emigrant Trail Ride from Lovelock, NV, to Suprise Valley in Modoc County, CA, July 18 - 21. Paticipants will gather at Sturgeon's Inn and Casino in Lovelock from 6 to 9 pm July 18 for a wine-and-cheese get-togther. The morning of July 19, the group will begin its journey. Participants will stay in area campgrounds. Cost for the trip is $250 per adult, $125 for children 7 through 14, and free for children 6 and younger. Cost includes all meals July 19 - 21. Mavericks 2008 International Civilian Space Competition
MAVERICKS is hosting this second annual international civilian space competition, in partnership with Draper Fisher Jurvertson, the Stanford Space Systems Development Laboratory, and the Tripoli Rocketry Society. Last years competition was canceled due to high winds and low visibility. This year, a back-up waiver has been attained in case of inclimate weather for July 25th, 26th, & 27th 2008. In addition, the competition has been moved to the middle of July where jet stream cross-winds at high altitude will not be an issue.
This years sounding rocket competition, will award a $10,000 cash purse to winner of the Mavericks DFJ J-prize 30K competition class. More details can be found in the competition section of the Mavericks web site.

Take a step back in time and follow the path of the Lassen-Applegate Emigrant Trail through northwestern Nevada. This is the frst leg of the tour, starting at Callahan Bridge near Imlay, NV, overnight at Black Rock Hot Spring, then on to Soldier Meadows Ranch. The second leg is August 2 - 3.
